How to make modular furniture

Using a basic cube to make furniture is an easy and affordable way to add storage or decorative furniture to your home. You can have timber or board cut to any size at your local Builders Warehouse and then assemble this into a basic cube to make storage units, wall shelves, nightstands and more.

YOU WILL NEED:

4 pieces of timber or board cut to squares

Backing board 10mm smaller than your finished cube size

Wood glue

4 x 30mm cut screws

TOOLS:

Drill / Driver + assorted bits

Countersink bit

Hammer and panel pins, or staple gun

Alternative: Use pocketholes, biscuits or dowel joints to join

HERE'S HOW:

Assemble the cube as shown in the diagram about. You can use any timber or board to make your cubes, but the board shouldn't be less that 12mm thickness.

Drill 3mm pilot holes and countersink all holes to prevent the timber or board from splitting.
