Wood burning Gifts
One of the easiest crafty DIY projects you can do is wood burning. Whether you have a professional wood burning tool or a Dremel VersaTip that you can purchase at Builders - you can try out a variety of projects that make the perfect gifts. If you are using a Dremel VersaTip, you can purchase special wood burning tips for use with the tool, but I manage quite well with what comes in the kit. Find more Dremel craft projects here.
If you want to try your own personal wooden spoons, I found a detailed tutorial that offers easy step-by-step instructions.
You can also use wood burning tools to make a variety of other projects as well...
It is so simple to transform inexpensive gifts into something special - all you need is paint! And the choice for paint covers everything from acrylic craft paint, paint pens, Sharpie pens and paints for all types of surfaces, ceramic, wood, metal and glass.
Ceramic paints and pens are a great way to transform ordinary ceramics into personalised gifts and you can buy ceramic paints in pots and Sharpie pens.
DIY Make Gifts
Our first DIY project to make is to cut inspirational wording out of SupaWood/MDF to hang on a wall. You can use a jigsaw and scrollsaw blade (thinner blade) to cut out the wording and then drill holes for fairy lights. I like this one as it lets you practice your jigsaw skills and you can create any word you like.
Wine racks are always an appreciated gift when given to those who love a tipple now and again, and it's an easy project to make, even for an absolute beginner. Pop onto Pinterest for some great ideas.
Wood lanterns are another gift that is easy to make using wood, but I do recommend using Meranti or Sapele instead of pine so that it can also be used outdoors.
Depending on your DIY skills, you can madk basic wood picture frames or larger, more decorative frames for family photos, inspirational quotes, memo or note board, or even for mirrors.
If you have previously attended a DIY-Divas workshop, you already know how to make a caddy, and you can make a beer caddy or braai caddy that you can personalise as the perfect gift.
