Don't let it rain on your parade - use Rust-Oleum NeverWet!

Rust-Oleum NeverWet is an easy to use superhydrophobic (liquid repelling) spray that guards virtually any surface against corrosion and wear caused by exposure to moisture and the elements. NeverWet contains breakthrough technology that repels water, mud, ice and other liquids.

NeverWet Outdoor Fabric spray

I have now used NeverWet Outdoor Fabric spray on a couple of projects in my home. The largest project was to spray the new upholstered cushions for my outdoor sofa. The idea was to protect these from occasional showers so that I wouldn't have to worry if the cushions got left out in the rain. The project was a success and the water-repellent treatment lasted through the summer months.

When you consider that the cushions are used on a regular basis I was surprised that the product worked as long as it did. You will need to re-apply the product when required if you want to ensure surfaces remain water-repellent.

Here are some answers to the most common questions for the Rust-Oleum NeverWet range of products:

How abrasion resistant is Rust-Oleum NeverWet?

Rust-Oleum NeverWet is resistant to normal wear and tear; however, with excessive abrasion or if applied to
a walking surface, the superhydrophobic properties will be quickly diminished. In many situations, the
superhydrophobic action may be reduced, but the remaining Top Coat and Base Coat still provide protection
to the treated surface. Superhydrophobicity can be restored by scuff sanding the object to remove the residual
Top Coat, and then recoating the object with Base Coat and Top Coat.

How long will Rust-Oleum NeverWet coating last?

Environmental conditions will affect the longevity of the NeverWet coating. Abrasion is the leading cause of reduction
in the coating’s life, but also exposure to things such as high pressure water can reduce the life of the treatment.

Can NeverWet be used on fabric?

NeverWet is not recommended for use on clothing. Rust-Oleum NeverWet will adhere to most fabrics, but dries
to a flat milky haze with a chalky feel. Test in an inconspicuous area and allow to fully dry before applying to the entire surface.

Can NeverWet be applied to glass?

Yes, but the glass will no longer be transparent. NeverWet dries to a flat, frosted, clear colour, therefore, it should
never be applied to windshields or automobile windows. NeverWet will work on any glass that you want to have
superhydrophobic properties, but don’t need to see through.

Can NeverWet be used on electronics?

No, NeverWet should not be used on electronics.

Can Rust-Oleum NeverWet be used on surfaces that are continuously submerged?

Rust-Oleum NeverWet relies on a layer of air to form the superhydrophobic treatment on the surface of the object. For this reason the product is not recommended for surfaces continuously submerged in water or liquid.

Once applied, can I remove Rust-Oleum NeverWet?

Yes. If you desire to remove Rust-Oleum NeverWet completely, the treated object should be removed by sanding and then wiped with mineral turps.

NeverWet Multi-Surface Treatment

Rust-Oleum NevetWet can be used on a variety of surfaces. Take a look at this video to see just how well NeverWet repels water and other liquids. Application is a two-step process that can be completed in under an hour.
