While this Spanish fashion retailer has been in South Africa for a few years now, it only recently opened its first Zara Home store in the Mall of Africa in Johannesburg. Reflecting their design ethos, the store itself is beautifully outfitted in neutral colours, wood accessories and offers shoppers the ultimate elegance.

The Zara Home flagship store in Joburg will soon be followed by the opening of new stores around the country, starting in Cape Town. In the meantime, be inspired by the collection of soft furnishings for children's bedrooms shown below.

There's nothing more calm and soothing for a baby or young child than neutral colours, organic materials and a few splashed of bright and bold. Zara Home offers an abundant range of cotton fabrics for bed linen and textiles, and you can combine this with wood elements and natural coir, jute or straw accessories.

Combine natural and white-painted accessories for a room that is clean and fresh. It's so easy to change the look by adding and removing a few accessories here and there.

Every child's room should have plenty of soft, cuddly elements. Introduce colours with bedlinen or cushions and complete the look with natural materials.

Keep it simple is always a good rule to follow when decorating a nursery or child's bedroom. Another good adage is that less is best. You don't need to cram as much as possible into a room to make it functional. Look for furniture that looks good in the room and is practical and functional.

At Zara Home it's all about simple elegance, whether for a kíd's bedroom, or for your home.
