There are many articles and books on how to achieve your goals. And, for sure, each of us sets goals for our businesses. For example, very often, we plan to expand our business or to change something. But are these goals often realized in real life? This makes us think about our worldview and attitude to our plans, aims, dreams, and desires. Here are eight tips that will help you achieve any of your goals.

1. Make a strong commitment to yourself

Make a promise to yourself that under any conditions, you will accomplish your plans. How, when, where, and under what circumstances this will be done are questions that will change over time. But the main thing is that your promise should not be subject to any doubt and discussion. You can call this promise an oath or a commitment. But no matter what the name is, there should be absolutely no way in a promise to deviate from your plans. It will be a great tool during the period when the initial enthusiasm has evaporated.

2. Make Your Goal Achievable

You need to sit down and think if your goal is specific enough and doesn’t have multiple meanings. Many people cannot achieve their goals since they simply do not set clear and feasible tasks. For success to be achieved, you must know the exact sequence of your actions.

3. Look for concrete solutions instead of the usual excuses

How do you usually make excuses for yourself? To realize this, think about what exactly prevented you from achieving your goals. Did not have enough time? Didn’t know where to start? You also have to remember what you said to yourself when you dropped out halfway. Don’t expect it to be different next time. Everything will be exactly the same! Therefore, you should write down all your excuses on paper so that you can deal with them beforehand. This way, if you have any excuses again, you will not go astray and lose your energy to complete the task at hand. Don’t be afraid if excuses come up again, just ignore them.

4. If you are slow, turn that trait into an advantage

It is believed that 60 per cent of people are driven by pressure. We usually call this slowness — people of this type take and evaluate the information for a very long time, thereby postponing the deadline for completing a task. They do not act quickly until external circumstances begin to put pressure on them. The remaining 40 per cent collect their thoughts and act promptly and on their own initiative, without waiting for the circumstances to force them to move faster.

If you fall into the first category, set yourself the deadlines before which the result must be obtained. For example, if you want to learn Forex trading, but you’ve postponed this goal for some time already, set a deadline for visiting a Forextime blog and reading a couple of articles for beginners. If you do it every day, by the end of the week you will know about CFD trading, Forex VPS, stock trading in South Africa, and so on.

5. Do the planned work every day

The Dalai Lama was once asked: “Can you describe the secret of your longevity and health in one word?” He replied: “Habit.” It is through habits that we do something day in and day out. Bad habits enslave us, and useful ones, on the contrary, bring us closer to the fulfilment of our most cherished desires. Make your desires a part of everyday life — you will not even notice how it becomes a habit, and you will stop thinking about this but will consider it a normal thing.

6. Monitor (control) your behaviour

Research has shown that by self-monitoring and taking regular notes, people increase the likelihood of positive changes. This is because control is a key element in self-regulation, helping to act exactly as planned. You can independently choose the type of control you need. Self-control allows you to be in full awareness of what you are doing.

7. Focus on the horizon

Evaluate the path you’ve covered to achieve your goal. You don’t need to estimate how much you have left to do. Scientists call this effect the “horizon effect.” It motivates further action and develops a sense of purpose. For example, rate how much more you did this week than last week. You will notice that you are confidently heading in the right direction. Also, ask yourself how you managed to achieve such success because from the answer you will glean new ideas for easier ways to achieve success in the future.

8. Make only one choice

Our whole life consists of a process of choice. Every minute we choose something: drink tea or coffee, read this article or read a book, go to the gym or take a walk with friends. And in some situations, we do not even think about the fact that we are faced with a choice. Gary Zukav said: “An unconscious choice is a reaction. A conscious choice is a response.” Try to be mindful of what you choose as much as possible.

If during the day you are unable to solve all the tasks, and you realize that the old habit is gaining the upper hand, then do the following exercise: stop and tell yourself that you will choose something that will only alienate you from your goal. After making such an informed choice, would you like the decision you made? Of course not. The very next day, do your best to make the right choice obvious to you. The better you learn to focus on making the right choices, the faster it will turn into a habit.
