Interested in seeing the Western Cape’s newest artistic and design talent? Then head to the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery in Cape Town from 28 – 29 March 2019 where work by entrants into South Africa’s most supportive awards programme for emerging creatives, the PPC Imaginarium Awards, will be on display.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit the AVA Gallery to view a selection of art and design projects entered in the fashion, sculpture, jewellery and industrial design categories of the competition. The AVA Gallery, which seeks to advance art and design in a variety of disciplines, provides the ideal platform to showcase these entries. The gallery is open Monday-Friday from 10h00 – 17h00 and Saturdays from 10h00 – 13h00.

The pop-up show is the first exhibition that the PPC Imaginarium Awards is hosting in 2019, with further pop-ups in various regions to follow hotly on its heels. Hosted by established galleries in Durban and Port Elizabeth, these pop-up shows will reveal some of the top young talent and creativity in South Africa.

Launched by renowned cement company PPC Ltd, the annual PPC Imaginarium Awards challenges emerging artists and designers to demonstrate their talent for innovation by incorporating concrete into their particular disciplines.

The PPC Imaginarium Awards, now in its fifth year, has established itself firmly as South Africa’s top career-launching platform for up-and-coming artists and designers. With cash prizes totaling R520 000, entrants have a strong incentive to win or be a runner-up in their categories. Finalists’ work is exhibited at several major events and galleries – including the Turbine Art Fair 2019 and 100% Design South Africa 2019 – as part of the annual travelling exhibition of the PPC Imaginarium Awards.

“We want to continue to build, support and assist in growing the creative industries and those who are part of it!” says PPC Imaginarium Director Daniel van der Merwe.
