02/02/2019

Taking place from 27 February to 1 March 2019, Design Indaba is all about how creativity is helping form a better world, while introducing the best of the best who are doing just that.

One pioneer and visionary is Olof Schybergson, who will be speaking at the Design Indaba Conference. Through his innovative design company, Fjord, he is reshaping the digital industry. One of his most tech savvy projects is Cujo - a system that monitors your home technology.

Another exciting event that takes place at this year's Design Indaba is the Emerging Creatives Programme presented in conjunction with the Department of Arts and Culture. This programme provides support, education and mentoring for South Africa's future designers.

You can also see a new creative outlook when dynamic graphic design duo Tin&Ed take to the stage to speak at Design Indaba 2019. Their playful yet complex illustrations and animations are what this duo Tin&Ed are known for. In recent years they have shifted their focus and now explore the convergence of the physical and digital worlds to create intricate installations and live digital experiences.

Twelve young designers who are the future of the industry will be speaking at Design Indaba Conference 2019. With trends ranging from futurism, sustainability and empathy, these young designers will outline their vision for the future.

Li Edelkoort - whose Paris-based company Trend Union produces forecasts which are used by strategists, designers and marketeers at brands from Armani to Zegna - returns to Design Indaba to present her vision for 2020. To be held in both Johannesburg and Cape Town – at the LISOF: Fashion Design School & Retail Education Institute and the Artscape Theatre Centre respectively, attendees around the country will have the opportunity to discover how trends – from fashion, colour and textiles to interiors, lifestyle and more – are emerging in a world in transition.
