The range of roofing materials is so large that it is quite difficult to understand the features of each of them. To "the roof did not go" in any sense, we have compiled a guide for you on the popular today's coatings.

Popular roofing materials, of which most customers are trying to choose the right one, it is composite, flexible and metal tile. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. Evaluate the reliability, safety, ease of installation, service life, cost and other characteristics of the coatings to make a decision easier.

COMPOSITE SHINGLES

Composite tiles - a composite (multi-component) roofing material, similar to a sandwich of galvanized and primed metal, which is covered with granulated stone and acrylic glaze. Roofing of composite tiles looks expensive and beautiful, being a worthy alternative to classic ceramic tiles.

Pros:

Longevity - the service life of a composite roof exceeds 50 years. Easy replacement of damaged areas.

High fire resistance.

Ecological compatibility.

Resistance to corrosion, fungus, mildew.

Excellent performance of water, sound and thermal insulation.

Suitable for roofs with complex geometry.

Due to its low weight, such a roof is undemanding to the structure of the building.

Cons:

The high cost of the material. Relates to the class of elite coatings.

Expensive laying work with seals and ventilation tapes.

Installation should be carried out by a highly qualified specialist.

FLEXIBLE SHINGLES

At the heart of flexible tiles - fiberglass, impregnated with bitumen and covered with colored mineral granulate. Impregnation enhances the elasticity of the coating and provides tightness, and the sprinkling protects against the negative effects of precipitation and sunlight. A variety of shapes of plates and a wide range of colors allow to realize any design idea for flexible shingles. It can be combined with any type of facade finishing: beams, siding, brick and plaster.

Pros:

The durability of the coating is from 15 to 35 years.

It withstands sharp temperature fluctuations.

It does not accumulate electrostatic precipitates, does not require grounding.

Low thermal conductivity, good waterproofing and noiselessness.

Resistance to mechanical damage, hurricanes, lichens, chemical reagents, corrosion.

High flexibility without loss of strength is suitable for the device roofs of various shapes and configurations, easily transfer the geometric errors of the roof.

Easy maintenance, installation does not require much experience (the bottom layer of tiles - self-adhesive).

Lightweight, does not need to strengthen the structure of the roof and walls.

Cons:

The high cost of coating (more expensive - only composite tiles).

Low temperature resistance - up to +100 ° C.

Pretty expensive solid crate - a prerequisite for installation.

Low repairability - from a continuous carpet of flexible shingles is difficult to isolate a separate sheet for replacement.

It is not recommended to repair the roof on a hot day - there may be a shift of the coating and its rupture.

ONDULIN

The second name of the ondulin is euro slate. However, unlike the classic slate, consisting of asbestos fibers and cement, in the manufacture of ondulin use more environmentally friendly cellulose and purified bitumen. A layer of polymer resin and a wide range of mineral dyes give the coating an aesthetically appealing look.
