Make a modern vertical garden

Using affordable materials found at your local Builders Warehouse you can make your own modern vertical garden for kitchen herbs and small salad veggies.

Similar in design to our wine crates used for storage and furniture, you can also use them to make your own stacked vertical garden and make full use of valuable wall space to grow your own kitchen herbs or salad veggies.

Pop into your local Builders Warehouse for all the tools, materials and supplies needed for this project. You will even find a selection of herbs and veggies in the garden section.

Lengths 12 x 44mm or 20 x 44mm pine planks, as many as you need for your own vertical garden boxes

Lengths of 305mm laminated pine

Plastic or wire mesh

Landscape fabric

Drill / Driver plus assorted bits OR hammer and panel pins

Bosch Tacker or heavy-duty stapler and staples

Wire snips

Tape measure and pencil

1. Measure up and cut the pine slats to length and then screw (or nail) these onto the sides.

2. Cut wire or plastic mesh to fit in the base of each wooden box and staple in place.

3. Line the boxes with landscape fabric and staple in place.

Now all that's left to do is fill with soil and plant up your herbs or salad veggies.
