Precast concrete blocks and PAR pine planks are a quick and easy way to add a garden bench - and it looks good too! You will find 69 x 69mm PAR pine at your local Builders Warehouse, and it's strong enough to make a long bench. Use construction adhesive to glue the blocks together.

It is important that outdoor timber be treated with an exterior wood preservative, sealer or varnish to protect it from the elements.

Using PAR pine might cost more than using cement or pre-cast concrete, but you can design a wood garden bench to almost any shape or style. Incoporate overlapping PAR pine sides with space for potted plants.
