HERE'S HOW:

These lego storage boxes are perfect for storing small toys - and lego bits - and the kids will love using them. Each box measure 150 x 300mm, but you can easily make them bigger if you wish.

Make the boxes by gluing together the sides. Let this dry and then glue in the base.

Glue the lid insert to one side of the lid, ensuring that it is in the exact centre so that it fits nicely.

I used a 55mm diameter hole saw to cut out the circles for the top. You will need to make a total of 16 cut out of 12mm PG Bison SupaWood.

GOOD TO KNOW
Place a board underneath the board you are cutting to prevent damaging your worktop and it is important to securely clamp both boards to prevent them spinning as you drill.

If you find it difficult to remove the cut outs, use a small screwdriver to loosen. DO NOT touch the hole saw after drilling. It will be very hot.

After cutting out all the circles, use No More Nails to join two together. No More Nails is now in a set in 10-sec glue, which cuts down on waiting time.

Fill in the holes left by the drill bit with wood filler and let this dry before sanding smooth. You can also now sand the edges of the circular blocks smooth as well. Glue the circular blocks onto the top of the lid.

Use 240-grit sandpaper to sand all cut edges. If you sand the edges they won't absorb the paint as quickly. Another tip is to rub wood filler along the cut edges and then sand this smooth. This is how your completed box should look. Before painting make sure to sand away any dried glue.

Cover your work surface and then spray on a light, even coat of Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint. Allow the first coat to dry before applying a second coat. If you spray on too much paint in one go you may end up with runs. Work outdoors or in a well-ventilated space.
