Use off cuts to make a table lamp

I'm always saying that it's more affordable to buy a sheet of PG Bison SupaWood and have all your off cuts cut into manageable sizes for easy storage. Here's a lovely project that uses off cuts to create a stylish table lamp, which costs nothing if you do use off cuts!

Stacy use leftover scraps of SupaWood to create a table lamp with a difference. Not something you would find on the shelf at your local home store, this is a unique piece that you can easily make in a morning.

YOU WILL NEED:

SupaWood off cuts
Templates to draw your round circles
300mm length of PVC pipe
2 metre length of 2-core electrical cable
Lampholder
Screwdriver
Wood glue
Drill/Driver, 8mm wood bit and 22mm spade bit
220-grit sandpaper
Acrylic PVA or Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint in your choice of colour

HERE'S HOW:

Use your jigsaw to cut out circles of different sizes and then sand with 220-grit sandpaper until nice and smooth. Paint in your choice of colour with acrylic PVA or Rust-Oleum 2X Painters Touch spray paint.

GOOD TO KNOW
To trace out the shapes you can use cups, saucers, lids, etc.

To make the holes in all the blocks - except the bottom block - use a 22mm spade bit. I didn’t want them to all be centred - I wanted them to be all wonky, so the holes were drilled in different places. In the block before the bottom block, drill a 8mm hole so that you can thread the electrical cord to the outside.

GOOD TO KNOW
Clamp the block securely before drilling through the side.

The block are glued into place - with all the drilled holes aligned. Thread the electrical cord through the drilled hole and into the centre.

The PVC pipe is added at this point and the cable goes up the pipe. Continue to add blocks over the pipe and glue in place. Attach the lampholder to the electrical cord and use 10-minute Epoxy Glue to stick the lampholder to the top of the pipe.

GOOD TO KNOW
Mix the glue exactly as advised - if not if won't set hard.

Now you're ready to add your lampshade, an energy-efficient globe and switch on your new table lamp!
