Quick Tip: DIY strap clamp

Here's an easy and affordable way to make your own strap clamps for projects. These clamps are great for clamping glued projects.

A pack of 4 Smart Straps will cost you around R270 at Builders Warehouse, and from this you will have 4 strap clamps that you can use for strapping glued projects. That works out at around R70 per clamp - a huge saving against buying a ready-made strap clamp.

The Smart Straps come in two sections, as you can see above, with hooks on both ends.

In order to make a strap clamp you need to cut off the hooks.

With the hooks removed you can join the two straps using a needle and thread. I place the long strap between to two ends of the short strap and did a repeated running stitch.

Once joined, you can use as a strap clamp that can be tightened to hold together glued sections.
