Everything Is Sunny With Pantone's Colour Of The Year For 2021

Infusing the future with a dash of hope, Pantone's Colour Of The Year, two colours, in fact, will brighten your home and your mood with a sunny disposition.

The weather might be dull this past week but hey, we need the rain so no complaining! When it's cloudy and wet or windy and cold, there's nothing like a spot of sunshine to cheer up your day and that seems to be why Pantone's colour choices for 2021 are inspiring, or is that illuminating?

Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2021 is, in fact, two colours once again. With 2020 in the rearview mirror and possibility the worst year in recent history, what better way to cheer everybody up that with a sunny yellow colour aptly named Illuminating. And if that doesn't bring a smile to your face, they have paired Illuminating with Ultimate Grey, a colour that is solid and reliable.

Pairing yellow and grey together isn't something new and we have seen this colour combination many times before. But 2021 is definitely a year where we need some sunshine in our lives and what better way to achieve this than with Illuminating.

Not everyone is up to painting an entire room every time a new colour becomes trendy, but there's nothing wrong with painting a feature wall or using a popular colour for painting accents. I don't think I would enjoy an entire room painted yellow, but I do love how Illuminating and Ultimate Grey pair so well together.

With neutral colours as a backdrop, and particularly the ongoing popularity of different hues of grey, why not grab your paint roller and open a can of sunshine to paint certain areas in your home, as shown below.

Give your 'working from' home office a burst of freshness with a couple of coats of Illuminating yellow.

We are almost nearing autumn and the garden will start to look bare and an easy way to refresh your interiors and bring some sunshine indoors is to shop for decor accessories in a sunny yellow colour.

Nothing brightens up a dull room than a splash of yellow, so think about how you can incorporate this cheery colour in your home. Throw blankets and cushions are just one easy and affordable ways to bring a splash of colour into any room. And let's not forget about a fresh or dried flower arrangement.

Take a plain grey sofa and inject bold colour with a few carefully selected accessories in yellow.

If your decorating style is a tad more subdued and not about bold colours, and easy way to bring yellow into any room in a home is with art. A few select pieces of art with prominent strokes of yellow will have a big impact on the mood of a room and add a brightening effect without being too overpowering.
