A Home-Dzine we do regular features on various international interior designers, but in this feature we take a look at a selection of local (proudly South African) interior designers and some of their previous projects.
As a nation that is as diverse as its people, South African interior design is not defined by a particular style, but rather by our lifestyle. Interior designer Gregory Mellor has a passion for culture and lifestyle, and nowhere is it more apparent than in his interiors. A native South African, his interiors reflect a combination of international styles and influences – seamlessly fused together to create an effortlessly chic overall effect.
Andrea Graff is renowned for her warm, sophisticated, sensual and beautiful approach. As one of South Africa’s foremost interior designers her signature style layers antique finds with contemporary furniture to create designs that are harmonious, inviting, and always liveable.
Overseeing a project from design to decor, Jossi Design works closely with clients to find and manage contractors, as well as assisting with the selection of furniture, soft furnishing, curtains, fabrics and artworks for decorating a home. CEO of Jossi Design, Jocelyn Jones, also President of the South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions, adds her own brand of up-market style to KZN’s most beautiful properties.
Established in 2000, M+M design was born out of a passion for unique and contemporary design. Their ability to work from project concept, and the ability to work closely with architects and contractors alike, allows for the creation of truly unique interiors.
Cape Town based Interior desginer Kim Stephen creates glamorous interiors that are comfortable and contemporary. Kim’s approachable working style comes with the benefits of an excellent network of quality suppliers and subcontractors, and a transparent billing policy.
Based in Durban, Eye Candy Interiors are described as 'soft contemporary' that incorporates luxurious textiles, comfortable furniture combined with clean lines and strong statement pieces. Their inspiration flows from a passion for all things beautiful, and a belief that the more beautiful your home is, the more you value it, both financially and emotionally.
D12 Interiors offers clientele contemporary interior design and embrace the ethic of the advancement of interior design through creative solutions and poetic design. Based in Johannesburg, D12 Interiors works in collaboration with AMA Architects to offer a complete solution.
Run by one of Durban's new up and coming interior designers, Bronwyn Hill, BHD Interiors is a specialises in upmarket residential interiors. Bronwyn enjoys cool, calm and collected spaces where function and aesthetics work hand in hand to create a space that is welcoming and comfortable, where one can relax and rejuvenate.
Based in Johannesburg, The Tonic studio is a design consultancy that is characterised by a bold use of shape and form, and an unusual juxtaposition of elements. Their clean-lined aesthetic and meticulous detailing have been widely acclaimed. The Tonic also offer a range of their own designs, refurbished antiques and chosen artifacts.
Olivia D. is recognised for her impeccable taste, attention to detail and natural flair. Olivia does not restrict herself to a 'signature' style, instead she integrates her clients personality into the prescribed décor thereby creating luxurious, magnificent and unforgettable spaces.
