SAOTA is an award-winning group of architects that consists of Stefan Antoni, Philip Olmesdahl, Greg Truen, Phillippe Fouché and Mark Bullivant. This dynamic team has taken on the world with their innovative approach to design. Now, this visionary architectural firm expands its footprint into Australia, with their first completed project in Sydney.
Located in Double Bay and taking fullest advantage of the surrounding pristine views, this home is located right on the water's edge in this exclusive suburb.
The brief for the design was to create a home that balanced family life and entertaining, with a layout that incorporated plenty of space for gatherings and celebrations, without impeding on privacy.
The double volume entrance provides an almost overwhelming impact upon entering the home. Wooden slats sweet around the surrounding walls and frame the staircase to the upper level. The slats also serve to provide privacy when the house is lighted up in the evenings.
To accommodate the requirement for entertaining and private family life, the ground floor features expansive living and entertaining areas, as well as the main kitchen.
The upper level of the home consists of sleeping and lounging areas that are given all the privacy they need for the family
With a brief that addressed aesthetics and functionality, the objective was to create a harmonious balance between the two.
The exterior of the home is wrapped with steel and timber panelling that not only provides a level of privacy but also adds to the overall appearance of the home design.
