While I'm probably giving my age away here, but I'm one of those people that loves sheer curtains - also known as net curtains. I find that these curtains are wonderful for letting in lots of natural light while preventing my overlooking neighbours from seeing what goes on in my rooms, and particularly the bedroom! Unfortunately it's not easy to find nice sheers any more and it appears that these are now old fashioned. However, another option that allows light into a home, and that can control the amount of light, as well as give you complete privacy, is aluminium blinds.

Dating back over 300 years, venetian blinds have been used to control light and regulate air flow, and today, blinds are just as popular and have evolved into an easy, affordable solution with a variety of style to choose from.

If you’re looking for a way to brighten up a gloomy room or space in your home, or are in the process of updating the decor of your home, you might want to consider venetian blinds as an option. In this article we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of venetian blinds to help you make the right decision.

An added benefit of having venetian blinds made to measure, is that they can be fitted to any window size- large or small. This gives you freedom to fit these blinds to rooms where privacy is of the utmost importance.

Venetian blinds protect your furnishings and fittings

For windows that let in a lot of natural sunlight, venetian blinds can be installed to protect your upholstered or wood furniture from the harmful effect of UV rays, as well as laminate floors. Direct sunlight can bleach and destroy fabrics and surfaces over time, and simply by changing the angle of venetian blinds you can control the amount of sunlight without blocking out natural light.
