Knit a faux sheepskin cushion

Snuggle up with a faux sheepskin knitted cushion for warmth this winter, or knit one to add texture to a living room sofa. The cushions measures 45,5 cm square and has a solid fabric back.

 

MATERIALS
PatonsĀ® Wild Child 70 g; 33 m

Version 1
Contrast A (80040 Mugsy) 3 balls
Contrast B (80008 Shirley) 3 balls

Version 2
Contrast A (80008 Shirley) 6 balls

YOU WILL NEED
Size 6 mm knitting needles or size needed to obtain tension.
45.5 square pillow form. Fabric for pillow back approx 49.5 cm square.

TENSION
10 sts and 14 rows = 10 cm in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS

Version 1
With A, cast on 3 sts.
1st row: (RS). Inc 1 st in next st. P1. Inc 1 st in next st. 5 sts.
2nd row: Knit.
3rd row: P1. Inc 1 st in next st. Purl to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. P1.
Rep last 2 rows until work along side edges measures 45.5 cm.
Break A.

With B, dec as follows:
Next row: (WS). Knit.
Next row: P1. P2tog. Purl to last 3 sts. P2tog. P1.
Next row: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until 5 sts rem.
Next row: P1. P3tog. P1. 3 sts.
Break yarn. Draw end tightly through rem sts and fasten securely.

Version 2
Make as given for Version 1, omitting reference to colour change.

Finishing
Using a 2 cm seam allowance and with WS facing, sew fabric back
to 3 sides of pillow. Insert pillow form. Sew rem seam closed.
