Paint dipped effect for stool makeover with Rust-Oleum

I'm loving all the paint dipped furniture that's featured on the Internet, and since I needed to give this stool a makeover, I decided now is the perfect time to try this out. Using a can of Rust-Oleum 2X satin blossom white and a can of Rust-Oleum Universal pure gold, I sprayed the stool for my bedroom.

There's nothing wrong with the stool, other than a few dings here and there and paint splotches - I use the stool when I do painting in and around the house, me being such a shorty and all.

If you need to fix a wobbly stool, use wood glue to fix together loose joints.

I have discovered the joy of using a sanding sponge, especially if you need to sand around detailed legs like these. You can buy sanding sponges in fine and medium grit and they're great for this type of project where you just need to de-gloss the finish.

After sanding with a fine sanding sponge, you can fill in any dents or gouges with wood filler and sand smooth once dry. Wipe down with a cloth and just a dash of mineral turpentine and let this dry for about 20 to 30 minutes.

I sprayed the bottom section of the legs with Rust-Oleum 2X satin in blossom white. It only needed two light coats of spray paint and then I left to dry for about 30 minutes.

After wrapping wide masking tape around the top of the white painted section, I applied two coats of Rust-Oleum Universal pure gold spray paint on the top section of the stool. Again, only two light coats were necessary.
