PVC pipe wine rack

Christmas is coming and that means the endless hunt for that perfect gift for family and friends. Our PVC pipe wine rack is the perfect gift to make. You will find PVC pipe at your local Builders Warehouse and then all you need is a tube of Tangit PVC glue and a can of Rust-Oleum spray paint.

Each section is cut to 180mm in length, which means you get two wine racks out of a single piece of 110mm and 50mm diameter pipe, unless you want to make a bigger wine rack like the one shown here.

YOU WILL NEED:

Length of 110mm diameter PVC pipe
Length of 50mm diameter PVC pipe
Tangit PVC glue
Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint in your choice of colour

TOOLS:
Mitre saw, handsaw, Dremel SawMax or multitool and cutting disc
80- and 400-grit sandpaper

HERE'S HOW:

1. Cut all the pipes to 180mm length. Sand any rough edges around the cut with 80-grit sandpaper. Sand the outside of the pipe with 400-grit sandpaper. Wipe clean with a lightly damp cloth to remove all traces of debris.

2. Place the cut pipes upright on a piece of newspaper, so that you can spray the inside and outside of the pipe with Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint. Apply two coats, letting each coat dry before applying the next coat. Turn the pipes upside down and repeat to cover.

3. Apply a thin bead of Tangit PVC glue in a straight line down one of the long sections of pipe. Carefully place a small pipe along this glue line, lining up the edges for a perfect fit. Repeat this on three sections of large and small pipes.

4. Now you can glue these three sections together into any configuration. Just make sure that the design sits level and balances nicely.
