Painted cushions inspired by art

Over at the cavender diary a set of cushions are given an art-inspired paint treatment that transforms them from plain to unique. No special paints involved, these cushions were splashed with everyday household paint leftover from various home projects.

Having found a set of canvas square pillows a few years ago, the boys couldn't resist being inspired by Jason Pollock. Couldn’t be easier... drop cloth, cushion covers, cheap brushes - and paint slinging.

The midday heat worked in our favour and they dried thoroughly in about an hour. We left the other side plain canvas in case we ever want just plain pillows again - but not likely anytime soon. This could be a great project for a kids - or even a couple of grown men who think they’re still kids.

QUICK TIP:
After painting, iron on the back side of the fabric. It helps bond the paint to the fabric for longer-lasting effect, even repeated washing.
