Round-up of easy to make cupcake stands

Making a cupcake stand is a piece of cake! All you need is 12mm PG Bison SupaWood cut to size and a jigsaw for detailed cutting. Once you have finished the assembly, apply Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint and embellish with ribbons, bows, lace, frill or decorate for a particular theme. Get your board at Builders Warehouse and let the guys cut it into the square or rectangular shapes that you need to start off.

Making a cupcake stand can be as simply as cutting 12mm SupaWood in circles of different sizes and joining these together on a threaded rod with nuts and washers. The rod and nuts are cleverly hidden inside PVC or chrome pipes, as with this design shown left. Dress up a cake stand with Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint and then add ribbons and trim as desired.

Mini cupcake stands painted in pastel or bright, bold colours make for a wonderful display of delicious cupcakes for a special occasion. Look out for inexpensive candleholders, or make friends with a woodturner to make the stands for you.

If you're fairly savvy with using a jigsaw, cutting out your own decorative cake stands is a piece of cake! Use a thinner jigsaw blade to be handle to handle the curves easily. Prime and paint with your choice of Rust-Oleum 2X spray paint to finish off.

If you prefer something a little more rustic, cut logs and timber make an attractive display and is easily assembled. Natural log slices are cut from felled trees Rough pine is stained a warm colour, giving it a most impressive rustic, natural look.

Re-purposing items that you already have in the home is a great way to recycle. Over at oh happy day they placed vintage vinyl records between two pieces of glass (or plexiglass) to make this unique cake stand. Each tier is supported by a thrifted candleholder and the sandwiched vinyl record is screwed through the centre and into the candleholder.
