Easy cake or biscuit stand

Use colourful plates and a few supplies to make this colourful biscuit or cup cake display stand. You can get lovely plates at Mr Price Home, and at a very affordable price too!

Somewhat Simple

YOU WILL NEED:

Couple of plates
5 or 6mm threaded rod
Nuts for threaded rod
Plastic tubes (empty pens are great)
Colourful ribbon
6mm glass/tile bit
Drill/Driver

HERE'S HOW:

1. Mark the centre of your plates. Place the plate on a towel and use a drill/driver and 6mm glass/tile bit to drill a hole in the centre of each plate. The towel provides a bit of support for when you cut through. Don't try this with a drill bit, as it may fracture or break the plates.

2. Insert the threaded rod through the hole that you have drilled. Only work with one plate at a time, starting with the bottom plate.

Screw a nut on the bottom of the threaded rod.

3. Spray the plastic tube in your choice of colour and once dry, slip over the top of the threaded rod and top this off with another nut. Attach the top plate in exactly the same way.

Finish off with a decorative bow at the top of the threaded rod. If you need to cut the threaded rod down to size, the easiest way is to use an angle grinder, but a hacksaw works as well - it just takes much longer.
