Adding a pouffe or two to your living room or family room is a great way to relax and put your feet up after a hard day at work. Even if you don't want to use it for your feet, a stylish pouffe can be used to add extra seating to your living space when friends or family pop in to visit.

This striped pouffe is an easy crochet pattern to follow that does not have any complicated stitches and even a beginner would be able to make it. Follow the simple instructions on the downloaded PDF and you can add a pouf or two to your home in no time at all.

This stylish pouffe has a total width of 686mm and a height of 380mm and the latter can be modified if you need the pouffe to be higher. Just remember that if you want to make the pouffe larger than the one shown here, be sure to check that the length of the sides and the circumference of the top and bottom will match.

To make the project easy for even a beginner, the top and bottom sections are separate from the continuous side strip and the pieces are sewn together once finished.

GOOD TO KNOW

When you need to change the yarn colour, work the last stitch of old colour to the last yarn over and then yarn over with the new colour. Draw through all loops on your crochet hook to complete the stitch. If you are not sure how to do this, don't stress as it will not be that obvious.

Finishing the Pouffe

Sew the pouffe pieces together ensuring that they are face-side or best-side out. Start by securing the long side panel to the bottom and then repeat this to add the top - leaving just enough space to add your choice of filling, see below. Use the same colour yarn as used to crochet the pouffe and keep the stitches on the inside so that they will not be visible. Also, make sure to line up the bottom and top with the side so that there will be no shortage or excess when joining these pieces together.

To finish off the pouffe, you can fill the completed pouffewith polystyrene (bean bag) beads, use the stuffing from an old duvet or pillows or you can purchase synthetic stuffing or filling from a fabric store. Make sure to purchase enough filling to fit snugly into the pouffecover so it does not sag.
