New Rust-Oleum Chalked makes painting projects easier and faster

Rust-Oleum have launched Chalked, an ultra matte paint that quickly and easily covers dated furniture for an instant update.

Rust-Oleum Chalked offers the convenience of an ultra matte paint in pastel shades that is easy to apply and available at your local Builders store. Now you have an affordable alternative to more expensive brands to transform dated furniture for a new look - with less cost and less fuss.

New Rust-Oleum Chalked provides an ultra matte finish with superior adhesion and coverage. It transforms furniture and can be painted or distressed, giving any project a one of a kind look with a vintage feel.

Only apply one coat for coverage on most surfaces and let it dry to a velvety smooth finish that can easily be distressed to create a vintage or shabby chic look.

Remove all hardware and lightly sand high gloss pieces with 120-grit sandpaper before applying Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte paint. Drawers and doors should be removed and painted separately.

Be sure to wipe clean to remove all traces of dust.

Stir the can well before application until the contents are consistent in colour and texture.

Using a quality synthetic paintbrush, apply to the surface with even strokes. Most pieces will only require one coat of Chalked paint. An optional second or third coat can be applied after 30-minutes.

Allow the final coat to dry for a minimum of 4 hours before distressing the edges with 120-grit sandpaper. Focus any sanding on the edges and detailed sections of the project for best effect.

The more sanding you do - the more the original surface will show through.

After sanding, wipe clean before applying one coat of clear, matt sealer coat. If you prefer, you can also use Woodoc Antique Wax as a protective coat.

Allow 4 hours drying time before adding new hardware to finish off your new piece.
