What to do with leftover wrapping paper

Everyone buys a few rolls of pretty wrapping paper for their Christmas gifts, and you are usually left with a few scraps that you don't think you will be able to use. But there are plenty of uses for leftover wrapping paper and we have collected some wonderful ways to use any scraps of wrapping paper that you don't want to throw out.

Investing in a small paper shredder might be worthwhile if you have lots of paper and wrapping paper to recycle. You can make up packets of shredded paper confetti that can be sold online for parties and events, or you can use shredder paper to pack away your breakable decorations from the Christmas tree.

If you still have a New Year's celebration planned for later this month, don't forget that you can use any leftover wrapping paper to add to your party decorations. Use small scraps of wrapping paper to make party poppers for the table, or for when the clock strikes midnight. You should be able to buy the cracker snaps at craft and hobby stores to make your own party poppers. You will also find an easy tutorial for making confetti-filled party poppers on magnolia.

What to do with leftover Christmas serviettes or napkins

Over the festive season, you normally attend several events and you will probably find that at most of these you will come across decorative Christmassy serviettes. I saw some truly beautiful serviettes and napkins this year and was reminded of the recent post we did on wrinkle-free decoupage.

While the previous post focused on using serviettes to create beautiful coasters, you can also use serviettes and decoupage on a wide selection of other items as well.

Most of us like to have a few festive candles on display, whether on the fireplace shelf, a server or sideboard, or as part of a centrepiece arrangement for the Christmas dining table. Put away all your pretty Christmas serviettes and use them to decorate plain pillar candles for next year.
