Having put up with a pedestal sink in my bathroom for many years, it was a blessing to finally rip this out and replace the single pedestal sink with a his and hers bathroom basins and a bathroom vanity that I made. There are a lot of bathrooms out there that still have plenty of pedestal sinks and probably more than a few in rental homes. So, what can you do to have more storage in a bathroom where ripping out and replacing the pedestal sink is not an option?

The easiest and more practical solution for adding space around a pedestal sink is to build a custom cabinet that slips over and around the base of a pedestal sink. This type of storage solution is perfect for any home but particularly practical if you are renting your property. After all, the under-sink storage cabinet doesn't have to be mounted to the wall and is considered a temporary fitting rather than one that needs to be secured in place.
