A romantic bathroom makeover

A few small changes, some refinished accessories, and a handful of affordable do-it-yourself items are all that you need to transform a boring bathroom into a space to relax and unwind.

Grab a can or two of Rust-Oleum Painters Touch - Heirloom White - and go crazy. Most of these accessories are items that were found around the house (and garden) and given a coat or two of spray paint to create an all-white romantic bathroom.

Silver is perfect for adding a touch of decadence and glamour to a plain bathroom. A small chandelier, which was previously black, was sprayed with Rust-Oleum Metallic Silver and then distressed to show some of the black through - a quick and easy aging technique.

This smallish bathroom does not receive a lot of light so it is essential to let as much natural light in as possible. Instead of a full length blind, a quick drape was added to the top of the window using a silver brocade fabric.

To make this Roman Blind: The fabric was hemmed all around and a pocket sewn at the top to slip over the existing curtain track. You can easily bunch up the fabric to create a faux Austrian blind by hand sewing and pulling up.

Centsational Style

If you like the look of a listello tile but don't have the budget, a quick and easy way to add a decorative feature is to use polystyrene moulding. It comes in various decorative designs and is easily affixed to walls and tiles using a strong adhesive such as No More Nails, or Alcolin M37.
