Mother-In-Law's Tongue (sanseveria)

Shown above, this elegant plant with it's sword-like leaves loves shade and humidity and will also help to purify the air in a stuffy bathroom. Hardy and easy to care for, this plant only needs watering a couple of times a month and will take whatever moisture it needs from the bathroom.

There are over 70 different species of mother-in-law’s tongue and they are all characterised by their beautiful grey-green colour. Of the many varieties of this plant, there are long-leaved and short-leaved, so you can select the one that will fit perfectly into a small or large bathroom.

Devil's Ivy (pothos)

Requiring very little in the way of maintenance, Devil's Ivy is one of the easiest plants to grow and will flourish in a bathroom. The pothos plant doesn't mind the occasional dry spell, so it won't hate you if you occasionally forget to water, which is great news for those that definitely don't have a green thumb!

Devil's Ivy enjoy a wide range of environments and will grow well in a bathroom that has indirect or low light. These plants love a rich soil, so be sure to pot them up properly and then watch them grow. These plants particularly love bathrooms and their vibrant green or variegated leaves definitely add a splash of colour.

Cast Iron Plant (aspidistra)

The cast iron plant is the perfect indoor plant if you want to add a tropical touch to your home. These plants tolerate both cold and hot temperatures and will withstand irregular maintenance. When grown in a bathroom they love the low light and humid environment, and being fairly slow growing will not take up too much space in a small or compact bathroom.

Heart Leaf Philodendron

Another lush green plant that thrives in a bathroom is the heart-leaf philodendron. Similar in looks to the pothos plant, the heart leaf philodendron will definitely shine in a bathroom and add a splash of fresh, green colour.

For centuries the species philodendrons have been a popular choice as indoor plants.  Anyone without a green thumb will have no trouble growing these plants as they quickly adapt to the conditions where they are put on display and will provide a wonderful display year after year. While these plants prefer a relatively shady spot they will also do well in a bathroom with lots of indirect light.
