ABOVE: Shabby Chic recently compelted a kitchen installation in a 1940's home in Orange Grove on behalf of Tanya Silverman. Designed specifically to Tanya's requirements for a kitchen that looked the part, custom cabinets were manufactured, painted, distressed and aged in lightest teal and cream.
Tanya and husband Ian renovated their new home with the assistance of TI Home Projects.
The previously rented-out property required extensive alterations in every single room. Tanya wanted a home that reflected her love of antiques and everything old. She has a passion for secondhand stores and likes nothing better than to find a bargain or two every so often. The kitchen needed to reflect this.

Left over from the ceiling restoratin, tin ceiling panels were mounted in some of the cabinet doors.
The effect is absolutely stunning and further adds to the aged appearance of the cabinets.
Each freestanding cabinet is topped off with Eco-Logic bamboo countertops, a more eco-friendly option that either Formica or hardwood species.
The bamboo countertops are easily to maintain and only require a quarterly application of Tung oil or antique wax.
The painted and distressed kitchen cabinets are finished off with a coat of Woodoc Antique Wax to seal and protect them. Antique wax also allows for easy cleaning and only requires occasional maintenance.
Every cupboard was custom designed for a specific use.
