Paint a kitchen backsplash

Beth at Sawdust and Embryos has done some pretty amazing projects. One of my fave's is how to paint a kitchen splashback. That's right - no tiles, just paint.

Using paint allows you to match your existing style and colour and it won't cost you a fortune. Add to that it only takes an hour or two to paint and there's far less mess involved.

YOU WILL NEED:

Selection of acrylic craft paint colours
Paint brushes
Clean cloths
Masking tape
Tape measure
Pencil

GOOD TO KNOW
Pour small amounts of your paint colours onto a palette or plate.

HERE'S HOW:

Step 1

Measure up and mark the wall before applying masking tape onto the wall. Measure twice to ensure you have everything lined up and set out properly - stand back to see how it looks - so that you are well prepared before you start to apply paint.

Step 2

Using the palette or plate, dip the brush into lighter or darker shades and dab these onto the wall with a paint brush to create a textured effect that resembles a natural stone tile.

Step 3

Apply two coats of polyurethane over the top to protect and allow for easy cleaning.
