To update a table like this one, sand back old paint or varnish. If there are several layers of paint, use a paint stripper and finish off with an orbital sander - or sand by hand.
The table in this project was given a distressed paint effect.
Attach the table to the wall with wall plugs, screws and L-brackets.
Finish off with a glass top for an elegant look, and fit a fabric skirt.
To attach the gathered skirt, a velcro strip was stapled to the edges of the table frame and the other side affixed to the wrong side of the skirt. This allows easy opening of closing of the skirt for extra hidden storage underneath the dresser.
