Wall Murals

If you don't want large areas of colour on the walls, murals are a great alternative. Also, if you are renting a property, the design can be painted onto 3mm SupaWood - and taken with you when you leave (just remember to fix up the mounting holes left behind).

Painting a wall mural is not as difficult as most people tend to think, although some artistic ability is recommended.

The basic principle is to copy the design from the sketch onto the wall - obviously on a much larger scale.

I have found that the easiest way to do this is to section both the drawing and the wall into an equal number of squares (a grid).

Copy block by block from the drawing to the wall with a light pencil line. The blocks assist in keeping the drawing in perspective and make it easier for you to transfer.

Once the wall markings are finished, simply use acrylic paint in your choice of colours.

See, that wasn't so difficult was it. You'll find that as you go along you will start to feel more confident until at the end you feel like a real pro.
