You will need:
Sheet of 18mm Plywood
Sheet of 5mm Masonite
[2] 25 x 50mm pine 1.2m long
[4] castors
[2] metal drawer guides at least 50mm long
Push-in shelf clips
Finishing nails
Wood glue
Wood filler
Polyurethane varnish,
Edging trim - to match finish
Tools: Circular saw, drill, screwdriver
Here's how:
1. Cut out the pieces as per the diagram. Corner pieces will need to be mitre cut.
2. Attached the sides and back of the desk using wood glue and screws. Then glue and fasten cleats to back and sides of the desk to support the top; affix a 25 x 50mm rail to the underside of the desk top - drive screws through the cleats and rails into the underside of the surface.
3. Cut the pieces and mitre the butting edges for the drawer desk then assembly the sides, back and top. Attach the drawer guides to the inside surfaces. Build the drawer from the masonite board and plywood. Attach the drawer guides and drawer pull to the drawer.
4. Cut out the pieces for the shelving unit, allowing for mitred edges. This unit will need to be customised to accept the sizing of the flat screen monitor. For shelves, drill holes to accommodate the push-in shelves supports. Size and cut the backing. Glue and screw to assemble.
5. For the under-desk unit, cut out the pieces after referring to the diagram. Take special note of the support that runs through the bottom opening as it gives the unit rigidity.
DIY Tip:
Use a countersunk bit on all screw holes, which are then filled with wood filler and sanded smooth.
