You will need:
- Rectangular or square tablecloth larger than your window measurements
- Roller shade kit
- T-square
- Water-soluble marking pen
- Bostik 'No Sew'
- Clear plastic tape
- 5cm grommet
- 1m ribbon
- Wooden flower with the stem removed
Here's how:
1. Measure window height and width; add 5cm to width and 10cm to height. Cut tablecloth to these measurements.
2. Install shade brackets inside window frame. Install roller mechanism in brackets, adjusting for a tight fit. Remove roller from brackets; measure length of barrel for shade width.
3. Using a T-square and water-soluble marking pen, mark width measurement on shade fabric. Press side edges back at marks. Place a thin bead of fabric glue between folds; let dry.
4. Press bottom under 1cm, then another 1cm inches to form a casing. Pipe a bead of fabric glue close to inner fold; let dry, then insert slat.
5. Add a grommet to bottom centre of shade.
6. Centre shade on roller mechanism and secure.
7. Thread ribbon through grommet; glue ornament on ribbon tails. Install roller in the brackets.
Design Tip:
To ensure the best fit for your shade, measure the window in three spots (both height and width). Use the smallest measurements for your shade dimensions.
