quick diy projects for 2009

Of all the rooms in your home, there is one that allows you the most creative freedom and license to have fun. That room of course is your child’s bedroom.

Rules of design don’t apply in a child’s room. You can take this opportunity to go wild and decorate the walls with items and images that wouldn’t be suitable in any other room.

Unfortunately for many people this year, money is an issue when it comes to home improvements. Just because you can’t afford the newest toys and bedroom furniture doesn’t mean you can’t transform your child’s room into a place where dreams can become reality.

Here are a few simple DIY projects that you can attempt to help give your child’s room some serious style!

Colourful wall murals are a cheap and easy way to turn your child’s bedroom into a jungle, castle, pirate ship or whatever his or her little heart desires. Even if you don’t fancy yourself an artist, you can print images off the computer and create stencils to help you add characters and scenery to the walls of the room. You can even use found items to help create a fun room theme like a western or underwater theme.

Affordable decorating ideas
Can’t afford any fancy themed furniture? Why spend hundreds of dollars on a princess or cowboy bed when you can paint a headboard yourself.

If you don’t want to paint, you can find decals or stickers to help turn a regular headboard into a themed headboard your child will love. You can also find inexpensive items to help add to the theme you choose. You can glue thick rope to the border of the headboard for a western theme, attach pink material or sparkles for a princess theme, or starfish and sea shells for an underwater adventure theme. The only limits are that of your imagination!
