Carpets by design
As a design element - carpets can quietly fade into the background or add a loud punch of colour. Because carpet can be applied over almost any existing flooring, a thick pile carpet will hide irregularities in subflooring in a way that other flooring coverings can't.
To complete the finished look, proper selection of underlay is essential. The correct density and material will make all the difference in the final look of your new carpets.

Pick a starting point
Choose your favourite feature or objects in a room, whether it's a bay window or antique dresser. Make this the focal point and decorate around it. Use these favourite objects to suggest the colour palette and theme for the entire room.
Have fun with colour
Use different wall colour schemes for different rooms - so that each room has its own identity. Natural colour carpets go with all shades of paint. You can also match your wall and carpeting colour for a more minimalistic or flowing room, or use lighter shades for the walls and slightly darker for the floors for a warmer feel. Your chosen fabrics should pick up the colour scheme of the room.
Highlight items you love
Use dramatic lighting to draw attention to a favourite ornament or artwork, situate your beloved antique for maximum visible impact, highlight a mantlepiece with colour. Conceal unsightly tiles with carpet, hide unattractive window frames with drapes and curtains.
