DIY workbench
If there is one thing you need when starting out in DIY, it's a workbench and Werner in PE made a workbench for his first ever DIY woodwork project.
I thought the first thing I would need to make in order to create any other projects would be a workbench... so I made one!
I collected some reject wood from the industrial area. I'm not sure what type it is but it is very heavy. The planks were warped and many were split, so it took quite a bit of time to get these looking good before I could even start making the workbench.
I originally screwed the four top planks to end-beams, only to find that they had very different heights, which required some serious sanding and planing to create a level surface (you will see this in the photo, compare the two edges to the centre).
I even got wise and added a spare piece of wood to the back of the desk to prevent screws etc. from dropping down the back of the workbench.
My next project is to create some basic shelving, as I don't have much space to start doing woodwork. From now on it will be tools for birthdays and Christmas!
