Pergola Swing

Enjoy the lazy days of summer with this freestanding swing that offers shade and a perfect perch for enjoying the garden.

The wooden park of the structure is not all that difficult to build if you have intermediate woodworking skills and the basic power tools. A fabric 'topping' keeps the harsh sun at bay; the swing is made of a cotton canvas material and plywood that's softened by a cushion.

For best results, use waterproof outdoor fabrics, including awning fabric. That way, you'll be worry-free when the rain clouds move in.

Enjoy picnics in your own garden. Dress up your swing seat with lots of cottage cushions.

The structure itself is supported on the frame work with posts sunk into post holes, making this a sturdy unit.

Plant up the sides of the Pergola Swing with climbing roses, scented or flowering creepers for additional shade and colour.
