Bubbling Water Feature

The gentle bubble of flowing water from this urn creates a soothing mood, enticing birds to drink and bathe.

You will need:
- Large and small urn (or sealed pots)
- Pond membrane (liner)
- Pump kit
- Silicone tubing to fit pump outflow (60cm length)
- Scissors Hot water
- 2 Bricks
- Pebbles
- Plants
- Galvanized metal grill (available at most hardware stores)

Here's how:
1. Place the pond liner inside the terracotta pot and push down flat with your hands to check that it fits evenly. Make sure you keep it flat, pressing out any folds or creases. Using scissors, cut the linder to fit just under the rim of the pot, with as few folds as possible. The liner should not be visible once the feature is finished.

2. Determine the size of the pump outflow and fit a 60cm length of silicone tubing. Dipping the end of the tubing into very hot water will help to slip it over the outlet more easily.

3. Place 2 bricks on each side of the pump, ensuring their upper level is a bit higher than the top of the pump. Add water to just below the level of the liner.

4. Cut the grill to shape and place the grill on top of the bricks, carefully easing the tubing through the underneath of the grill. Shorten the tubing so it fits into the urn.

DIY Tip:
Pots and urns for water features can be sourced from your local garden centre, or specialist supplier.

5. Put the urn on top of the grill and push the tubing through the pre-drilled hole. Switch on the pump to make sure the water flows correctly.

6. Arrange pebbles on top of the grill to disguise the liner, and place a few in front of the feature to create a natural-looking effect. Remember to top up the water regularly during the warmer months. Enjoy!
