Dream dining rooms

If you are planning to renovate or decorate your dining room, take a look at some of the stunning, dream rooms below. Inspired and created by top designers around the world - get an inside-view of your dream dining room.

ABOVE and BELOW: Anything but ordinary. This Shaker-style dining room designed by SGH Interiors blends with the rest of the home but has a personality of its own. Mirrored cabinet doors, decorative crown moulding and grass-cloth wallpaper add to the charm.

ABOVE: Perfect for summer or winter, the combination of black, ice blue and orange set the stage for dining with a mix of styles from expensive antiques to thrift shop bargains.

"Black and white always connotes the famous Capote black-and-white ball to me," says designer Mary McDonald. "The combination also varies from clean and modern to the most traditional applications, all expressing a certain amount of drama. "

ABOVE: Combine soft teal and coral for a room that is warm and comfortable but still cool in the summer months. "One dreary winter day my client and I had driven out to the house to meet. We had chosen the turquoise linen for the sunroom, but when I walked through the dining room and held the sample up to the wall, we both said, "That's it!" The turquoise brightened even the grayest of winter days." says designer Ashley Whittaker.

ABOVE: This dining room by Coddington Design features a bronze and blue colour scheme with soft lime green accents and drapes that make it a comfortable room for any season and any occasion.

ABOVE: For those who prefer to live life with a touch of drama, who could resist a room with so much impact. A black chandelier lights up this reflective chrome dining table. One row of deep red dining chairs is exchanged for a white-and-brass bench seat.

ABOVE: A fabulous colour palette of pinks, chocolate brown and Wedgwood blue provide a backdrop for sophisticated contemporary and vintage furnishings. The dining room features a custom white lacquer table.

ABOVE: Everything in this Jeneration-designed dining room is about proportion; from the oversized light to the thick solid wood table. A neutral backdrop is lightened with shades of green that blends perfectly with the decor in the rest of the open-plan home.

BELOW: Another Jeneration design, but one that offers a more comfortable, traditional setting in neutral hues.

ABOVEand BELOW: Jeffers Design created a beautifully warm dining room, primarily using neutrals and orange. The tableau of rich, cosy colour invites you to sit and partake.

BELOW: If orange isn't your colour, what about earth tones? This dining room offers a more casual take on traditional style, this time in shades of neutral and green.
