Plascon 2014 colour palette
Every year decorators and designers eagerly await the launch of Plascon's 2014 colour palette to see what trends will be hot for the year ahead.
This year is probably my favourite colour palette by far, with it's bold Urban Tribe colour palette, vibrant Second Nature palette, cooler-toned Calm Contrast, and moody Inner Space.
The palette of contemporary brights with pure gold and black accents in Urban Tribe is a response to the growing trend towards national pride. With countries like South Africa and Brazil coming to the fore as global centres of design, their unique aesthetics are being showcased around the world. Urban Tribe is a warm and grounded palette that will add a splash of colour to any home.
Bringing us closer to nature, the Second Nature colour palette contains a bright, vibrant palette of greens and blues, activated by a bright yellow accent.
Showing the evolution of pastels, Calm Contrast shows the combination of classic pastels with grounding neutrals, plus dark blue and copper, creating a balanced, contemporary feeling.

Inner Space takes its cues from the night skies, stars and universe for colour inspiration. The theme is expressed through a collection of neutral shades (a bit like the colour of the moon, or moon dust) and velvety-looking blues that emulate a midnight blue sky for a deep, tonal palette.
