Pixel marquetry - stunning design

Kevin Stamper designs a range of furniture inspired by an early morning storm that captures sunlight coming from below the clouds turning them red and purple at the lower edges and blue and black at the further extremes.

Morning Glory (shown above) brilliantly displays Kevin's love of colour and design. As one of the first pieces he made, Kevin used veneer to capture his vision of an early morning storm over the Bay of Gibraltar. The colours reflect sunlight coming from below the clouds turning them red and purple at the lower edges and blue and black at the further extremes.

Kevin Stamper has become fascinated by colour and how colour can be used in conjunction with the natural beauty of wood and a process of pixellization to create powerful and dramatic pieces.

After opening his first workshop in 1992, Kevin's design firm offers him the time he needs to practice his craft and incubate and develop ideas.

Trained in Design and Furniture Making, Kevin is a designer and fine furniture maker renowned for his dramatic artworks. His unique style of pixilation and colour staining veneers allows him to capture emotion and mood. Kevin uses photographs and watercolour sketches that are digitized to create his initial designs. These designs are then reinterpreted with the colourful veneers to produce his unique designs.

Kevin creates his unique artworks using pressure-dyed sycamore veneers squares that are arranged for a collection of wall hangings.
