Fincube & Loftcube - Modular living with small footprint

Designed by Werner Aisslinger, Fincube represents a way of living that is at one with the environment and in tune with our modern way of life. Fincube is not only designed for small living, it can also be used as guest accommodation, extra living space for an extended family, or as an office or entertainment space.

The original concept in 2003 was to design a simple cube home that could be transported anywhere without too much disruption to the environment or the surrounding area. The Fincube is pre-assembled at the factory, delivered and then set down. All that is then required is to install power supply and water connections, and move in!

Since the original concept the Fincube has become an eco-house system - not only unique in terms of its visual design but also in harmony with the nature by utilising natural materials in the construction process. The top priorities in the planning and realization of the interior are simplicity and functionality.

Constructed entirely of local timber, the Fincube provides 47 square metres of living space with a minimal footprint by incorporating local and recyclable materials.

The interior space, with 360-degree triple glazing, is furnished with a second facade layer that provides shade, while horizontal slats provide privacy. All vital house-functions are controlled by a central touch panel. The 3 metre-high space is organized in a helical structure: the entrance area blends into a generous open kitchen with an adjacent sofa living space, around the corner one enters the bedroom and further down is the spacious bathroom.

Loftcube offers the option of a transitory lifestyle or a settle homelife. The futuristic design offers exceptional 360 views and combines a light-flooded interior with cosy living spaces, along with innovative technology. With a set-up time of one week from completion of assembly, including the interior spaces, Loftcube has endless possibilities.

Loftcube has been sited in Cape Town with an endless view over the Atlantic. The design suites have been integrated into the surrounding landscape to take advantage of the panoramic vistas that surround the installation and to provide suites, including grand suites, comprising three Loftcubes.

Loftcube's unique design and its ability to merge with its surroundings attracts attention. Characterized by the floor-to-ceiling windows that allow sunlight to flood into the LoftCube from a 360° angle, the innovative one-room concept does without non-utilizable auxiliary areas and creates fluid transitions from living space to living space, and an almost seamless transition between the interior and exterior.

White, fibreglass with a high gloss finish create the futuristic shape of the LoftCube. By means of a unique façade development, the designers have succeeded in using elegant, almost inconspicuous wood profiles with an aesthetically pleasing, warm radiance, which creates a framework for large, light-flooded glass elements.

Designed for entertaining, the kitchen features plenty of room for cooking, eating and conversation. Corian worktops and high-tech hardware incorporated into cabinetry represent minimalist design that is practical and precise.
