Chandelier made from wire baskets

Hard to believe that this modern chandelier is made using a secondhand light fitting and a couple of wire baskets. You could also using plastic hanging plant baskets, or chrome vegetable baskets to make your own chandelier and then finish it off with Rust-Oleum Universal metallic spray paint.

It's easy to take a butt ugly light fitting and revamp it into something modern with a little imagination and a bit of shopping around. You will find plastic plant baskets, wire baskets and steel baskets at most home decor stores.

You ideally need a basket that has a hole already in the bottom for fitting over the light fitting, but if it doesn't you can use a Dremel Multitool and cutting disk, or a jigsaw and steel blade to cut out an opening.

Spray the completed assembly with Rust-Oleum Universal metallic spray paints. You will find titanium silver, aged copper, oil-rubbed bronze and pure gold on the shelf ast your local Builders Warehouse.

After spraying, add some crystal or plastic beads with thin wire to complete the chandelier and add sparkle to your lighting.
