You will need:
Timber or MDF 5cm wide
Router + roman ogee edge bit
Mitre saw
Wood glue
Corrugated corner fasteners
Framing clamp
Print, mat, glass, and backing for each frame
Nails
Nail set
Wood filler
Hammer
Screen moulding
Paint or wallpaper
Nail brads
Pencil
Tape measure
Here's how:
1. Build the frames. Shape the outer edge of the frame with a Roman ogee edge router. Cut the frames to fit the prints. To mitre the corners, measure the outside dimensions of the moldings, then cut from the inside edge to the outside edge. This makes the cuts go with the grain, leaving a smoother edge. Make a 0.5 x 0.5mm rabbet on the inner back edge to hold the print, mat, and backing. Glue the mitred edges and attach corrugated corner fasteners. Hold them in place, right sides up, in a framing clamp.
2. Cut backing to fit.
3. Assemble. Paint the frame and assemble the print, mat, glass, and backing in the frame.
4. Create wall background. Measure placement for screen molding and mark at ceiling and floor. Paint or wallpaper each section of wall to accent the print that will hang there. Attach the painted screen molding to the wall with wood glue and nail brads. (The glue prevents gaps and warping, keeping the screen molding flat against the wall.) Fill the nail holes and touch up paint.
5. Hang frames by nailing them directly to the wall to prevent shifting.
