Avava Britespace - alternative prefab design
The Britespace is a completely new approach to prefabricated housing and delivers a high quality housing alternative that the average citizen can afford - something we desperately need here in South Africa.
Clean lines and wood detailing lend a contemporary aesthetic to the Aviva Britespace. Constructed of high quality and sustainable finishes, the designers are committed to low-VOC and zero-formaldehyde alternatives for building a home.
Consisting of just 64 flat-packed components, the Avava Britespace can be assembled and finished in six weeks. Brain child of Avava, a housing product company who design and build houses using a first-principles method, the Britespace is a flat-pack housing system that can be transported in components and assembled quickly without nails or adhesives by means of engineered wood I-joists and patented Joist-Lock connectors.
Avava, founded in 2010, was born from a core belief that current methods of creating housing are not meeting ever increasing needs. The Avava Britespace is available in various sizes from 264 Sq. Ft to 480 Sq. Ft. The Britespace is a completely new approach to prefabricated housing and delivers a high quality housing alternative that the average citizen can afford - something we desperately need here in South Africa.
Sustainable elements incorporated into the design include:
◊ Solar power
◊ Insulated roof and super-insulated building system
◊ Double-glazed windows
◊ Heat pump for heating and cooling
◊ Rainwater and grey water collection systems
Avava are also dedicated to reducing construction waste and have developed one of the most clean and orderly assembly processes in the industry.
The interiors are flooded with natural light, and can be fitted with complete kitchens, full baths, or used as a single open space that is suitable for a dedicated office or guest house.
Despite the small footprint of the Avava Britespace, rooms have generous proportions that would be ample for a guest cottage or when downsizes for retirement.
