Paint a wood table with rose design

Looking for an idea to dress up a small wooden patio table? Here's how to use acrylic craft paint and a homemade stencil to transfer a flower print design onto a sanded wood table. You can use a couple of pieces of scrap wood and recycle the thin foam from packing boxes to make your stencil stamp.

YOU WILL NEED:

Flower template (see below)
Scrap wood
Thin piece of foam or polystyrene*
Pencil
Scissors
Craft glue
Acrylic craft paint (white and deep pink)
Stencilling brush or foam pad
Paintbrush
Exterior varnish

*Recycle foam or thin polystyrene from gift and packing boxes

HERE'S HOW:

1. Print out the rose stencil at the bottom of this page or find your own rose design in Google images. Transfer this design onto a piece of thin foam and onto  piece of scrap board.

2. Use craft glue to secure the foam onto your block. Attach a piece of wood to the back of the block to make is easier to hold while you stand.

3. Use a stencilling brush or foam paint pad to transfer paint onto the stencil. Gently press the stencil onto the surface of your lightly sanded wood table.

GOOD TO KNOW
As you apply the stencil over the table slowly start mixing small amounts of white craft paint into the pink to vary the colour of the flower design over the table.

4. Let the paint dry and then apply two coats of exterior varnish.
