Fabric pocket organiser for child's bedroom

Children always need a place to store their small toys, craft suppliers and even small items of clothing, such as socks. This fabric pocket organiser is quick and easy to make, and you can use fabric scraps, offcuts or recycle old clothes to make it really affordable.

Add numbered pockets in coloured fabrics to turn this fabric pocket organiser into a learning project.

YOU WILL NEED:

Fabrics, asstd
Squares of felt
Thin batting
Sewing Machine
Sewing accessories
Scissors

Optional: Iron-on webbing or decoupage paper

HERE'S HOW:

Cut out shapes in different fabrics for the pockets. Cut colourful numbers out of felt squares. If you don't want to spend too much time sewing the numbers onto the cut out pocket shapes, use iron-on webbing or decoupage paper to stick the numbers on the pockets. Use a sewing machine to place and sew the numbered pockets onto the front piece of fabric (see below).

Cut a piece of batting 68cm wide and 88cm long. Cut 2 pieces of fabric approximately 70cm wide and 90cm long. Place the fabric right sides together and sew around three edges - leaving the top open. Turn the fabric right side out and carefully insert the batting. Cut 5 pieces of fabric for the tab tops and pin these in place along the top edge before folding under and sewing closed.
