Here's an easy way to make your own custom tree ornaments using branches from the garden and a few tools and a Dremel VersaTip soldering iron. You can apply almost any design you like to the cut wood slices and then paint or adorn with colourful glitter. Click here for more crafty projects using a Dremel VersaTip.

Cut medium-thick branches to size on a mitre saw or table saw before sanding smooth. You also need to drill a hole in the wood slices for hanging on the tree.

Choose a design that you can duplicate onto the wood slices, or draw a freehand design.

Heat up your Dremel VersaTip...

... and gently burn the design onto the wood slices.

After burning all your designs you can apply colour with craft paint or wood stain.

Finish off the wood slice ornaments with some colourful glitter.

Now you're ready to thread some string through all the finished wood slices to hang on the Christmas tree.
